Outdoor Camping
One of the best outdoor activities that you can do together
as a family is definitely outdoor camping. The call of
the nature, the sounds of the birds, the beautiful fauna and
flora that you will see, the superb fresh air, the quiet that
accompanies the forest at night, and last but not least the
wonderful opportunity for an outdoor wilderness adventure that
will be the part of any camping trip. Outdoor camping can
also provide wonderful opportunities for families to bond
together and to get to know each other as a family.
However, if you are sending your kids to gain outdoor
experience, then outdoor camping trips can be great
opportunities for your kids to gain maturity and the wisdom of
responsibility; while they get the most joyful times of their
lives.
As wonderful as it may be, outdoor camping, as outdoor hiking, is not for
everyone. It requires certain skills to have a successful
camping trip. Although these skills can be acquired
easily with some common sense and with some hard work, still
perhaps the most important skill in any camping trip is
patience and being cool headed. If you have these two
traits, then you will definitely be successful in any camping
trip. If you are going alone as a family, you should be
well versed and well prepared for any emergencies that may
arise along the way. However, if you are sending your
kids, then you should definitely make sure that the organizers
of the camp know what they are doing. The kids should
always be supervised by an adult who is skilled in camping
techniques and who knows first aid in case of a medical
emergency. (Even a simple bee sting can cause a major problem
if untreated, so knowing first aid skills will benefit the
camper greatly)
One thing you should do before an outdoor camping is to make
sure you have all the time you need. Going to the
wilderness for a camping trip can be fun; but it can be also
very demanding, not every camping trip has a outdoor camping shower, or
outdoor camping
chairs. So you should definitely prepare yourself and
allot yourself all the time that you need. Now if you are
going as a family having an R V will help you greatly in a
camping trip. You can easily rent a RV that has all the
modern necessities like a kitchen and a bathroom for just a
very low rental price in many companies especially during off
season. You can always pack your camping outdoor tent and other camping
equipment and set up camp anywhere that you want.
However, with a RV vehicle you will be able to take advantage
of daily comforts whenever you need it. It can be much
more joyful and much more safer. (In addition, you can
sleep unimpeded because of the mosquitoes)
If you can’t get a RV for your outdoor camping
trip, then you should definitely make sure that you
have everything that you need in a camping trip with you.
Some supplies are very important and you should make sure that
you have all of them with you. Having more than you need
can be very advantageous when the time comes and thus having
more is always more safer than having less. Some
equipment in an outdoor camping is crucial, so you should make
sure that you have them. The most important items in a
camping trip is:
- A tent big enough to accommodate your whole
family.
- Lots of Matches: Fire will be your best friend in
Camping especially in cold weather.
- Compass : Never leave for any camping trip
without a compass. It can be the worst mistake that
you have ever made. It’s always possible to get lost
in an outdoor camping trip, so you should always have a
compass with you. However getting a portable GPS unit
is much more safer, especially if you don’t know how to
steer yourself with a Compass. You can get a portable
GPS unit for less than $100 in many markets and you can use
it in your every trip.
- Flashlight and Lanterns: Never, ever forget
these. Without a flashlight or a lantern, you will be
totally helpless in the dark. Just taking flashlights
will not be enough as the batteries can finish pretty
quickly. You should definitely take lanterns and gas
to fuel them.
- Lots of Fresh water to drink. It can be a problem
to find fresh drinking water in a camping area so always be
prepared. You can always go hungry but you can’t make
it without water.
- Mosquito Repellent: Always have these
nearby. Especially at night, these repellents will be
your best friends.
- First Aid Kit
Of course, there are lots of things that you need besides these
equipment that are mentioned above. A good and well
organized camping trip will require more than a 100 articles in
order to be successful. However, a camping trip can
provide you with the best time of your life and it will be an
experience that you will cherish with your family for the rest
of your life.
